Layout of the Week #70- Visually Dividing Your Layout In Half

For the Layout of the Week, I usually try to incorporate a certain paper product or scrapbooking tool into the theme. My intent is to be able to show how you can complete a layout using materials that you have on hand.
This week, though, I decided to use a technique: visually dividing the layout in half.

Here's the layout we'll be creating.
Notice how the right side is completely covered, and even though the left side isn't, they're still balanced?

To make this layout, you need:
one piece of 12"x 12" pattern paper - with a subtle pattern
four strips of pattern paper- measurements below (you could use Washi tape instead)
1/2" x 12"
1 1/2"x 6"
11 1/2"x 1 1/2"
1"x 3"
one piece of graph or notebook paper trimmed to 4"x 6"
three embellishments in your layout theme
letter stickers for the title
scissors
adhesive
paper trimmer

We're going to begin on the right side of the layout.
Place one 4"x 6" photo in the lower right corner all the way to the edge.
Place another 4"x6" photo in the upper left corner OR you can trim
two photos to fit- mine measure 4" tall x 3" wide.

Now place a 1/2" x 1" pattern paper strip along the left edge of the photos.
This will divide your layout in half.
I used a sticker strip instead of pattern paper.

Write on your graph/ notebook paper avoiding the top 1 1/2" of the paper.
Then adhere it in between the top and bottom photos.

Place a strip of pattern paper measuring 1 1/2" x 6" along the top of your journaling paper.
I cut notches along the bottom of mine.

Now that the right side of our layout is completely covered, we'll move over to the left side.

You need another pattern paper strip- this one measuring 11 1/2"x 1 1/2".
Cut notches out of both ends.
Once you cut the first one, you can gently bow the paper and use it as a guide to cut the other end.
Adhere it vertically along the left edge of the pattern paper- very close to the edge.

Now place a photo overlapping the strip on the left about 2 1/4" from the top.
The photo should be 4"x 5".

Place a pattern paper strip measuring 1"x 3" across the bottom left edge of the photo.

Place two embellishments overlapping one another at the top of the photo.

Place your title in the empty space on the left side of the layout. Add your third embellishment just below the title.
That's it! You have completed a full, but cute layout!

If you enjoyed this post, please stop by every Wednesday for a new layout tutorial.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
