Summer's here, so odds are, you'll probably be doing some traveling in the next few months.
Here's an idea: make an album before you leave.
That way when you get home, all you'll have to do is print off your photos
and put them in the album.
Pretty sweet, huh?
I can walk you through a simple travel themed album today.
What I love about this album is the cover is actually a card.
You should be able to find a vacation type card in the card section that has blank cards.
To make this album, you'll need:
one 5"x 7" vacation themed card
5 pieces of vacation themed pattern paper (I used paper from this 8"x 8" paper pack)
two envelopes (I used business size and a small greeting card size)
5 vacation themed journaling cards (mine are from Snap- Project Life cards would work too)
two types of ribbon
two 1" office rings
one roll of decorative tape
5-6 tickets or other embellishments that can be used as tabs
paper trimmer
adhesive
stapler
To start, cut the card in half.
These will become the front and back covers of the album.
Trim the first piece of pattern paper to 6 3/4" high x 6 1/2" wide.
Score 1 1/2" from the right edge of the paper.
Then fold the flap over and staple it at the top and the bottom.
This will make a pocket page.
Place a ticket or other embellishment slightly hanging off the bottom right edge of the page.
Trim your second piece of pattern paper to 4 3/4"x 6 3/4".
Place a ticket or other embellishment at the center of the right edge. Allow it to hang over the edge and attach it with two staples.
Use your smaller envelope and turn the opening to the right side.
You'll be placing pattern paper on this that measures 3 1/4"x 5 1/4".
Wait to trim this until you've cut all the pattern paper so you can use some of your scraps.
Inside the envelope, place one of your travel journaling cards. Attach a ticket or other embellishment to the upper right corner of the journaling card.
Trim your third piece of pattern paper to 4 3/4"x 7 3/4".
Make a score line 1 1/2" from the bottom edge of the page.
Fold up that edge and staple the sides to form a pocket page.
Place a journaling card in the pocket.
Place a ticket or other embellishment in the upper right corner slightly hanging off the page.
Take another journaling card and fold a strip of decorative tape
along the bottom right corner making a tab.
Trim your business size envelope to 5 1/4" length and place the open portion facing up.
Using your scraps, center a piece of pattern paper measuring 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".
Place an embellishment in the lower right corner and a tab in the upper right corner.
My tab on this page is just a small rectangle of my scrap paper.
Take another jouranling card and fold a strip of decorative tape along the top right corner
making a tab.
Trim the fourth piece of pattern paper to 6 3/4" high x 6 1/2" wide.
Score 1 1/2" from the right edge of the paper.
Then fold the flap over and staple it at the top and the bottom.
This will make another pocket page.
Place a ticket or other embellishment slightly hanging off the top left edge of the page.
Once again, I used part of my scraps for this.
Punch two holes in the left edges of all the papers.
Use your smallest page to measure the holes (otherwise you may space your holes out too far).
Bind the pages with office rings.
Tie two ribbons onto each office ring.
See how you can see the tabs hanging off the edges of the pages?
Place your fifth journaling card as the first page.
Adhere a short strip of decorative tape as a tab at the bottom of this card.
Here's the first pocket page.
This album has lots of room for photos.
Here's the first envelope.
It has a journaling card inside, but you could also place pamphlets, photos, or other memorabilia in it.
Here's our second pocket page.
Here's a tip: if you have lots of photos, you could adhere two back to back and
have a double sided photo page.
Here's the second envelope.
Your journaling card pages don't have to have a picture- you could choose one with a quote or with lines for journaling.
Here's your third pocket page.
Because this album is bound with office rings, there's always the option of adding more pages or even punching holes in pamphlets and adding them at the back.
The back cover is the back of the card.
TA-DA! That wasn't so hard, was it?
Come back in two weeks and I'll show you this album full of vacation photos!
Thanks for stopping by and God bless.
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
