Flashback Friday: Chalkboard Project DIYs

I thought it would be fun to take a peek back at past projects,
so the last Friday of every month will be Flashback Friday
where I'll feature five projects with the same theme.

This month is chalkboard projects.
Who doesn't love chalkboard paint?

I turned this thrift store tray into a chalkboard.
Go here to read more about it.

This is a chalkboard necklace.
Cute, huh?

I painted a chalkboard panel onto a vintage suitcase.
Check it out here.

This cheese dome was another thrifted find.
I thought a chalkboard base would give it a little character.

I love making buntings, so I was tickled to turn chalkboard paper into a banner.

Makes you want to break out some chalk, doesn't it?

I hope you have a fantastic weekend! Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

A new commandment that I give to you,
that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Chalkboard Tray Turned Wreath

Last Friday, I showed you how I turned an old tray into a chalkboard.
Today I took it one step further, and turned that tray into a Valentine's Day wreath for our front door!

Pretty unique, don't you think?

Because it's a chalkboard, I can change my message.

All I added to the tray was a ribbon
that says, "I love you this much,"

then I placed half of a small doily in the lower right corner and
added three felt flowers that I found in the Valentine section at Hobby Lobby.

I used Glue Dots to adhere everything because they're strong enough to hold the embellishments on, but small enough that I should be able to easily take them off when
I decide that I'd like to use this as a tray again.

I'm considering leaving this up all year and just changing out the messages!

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light,
and your God your glory.

Silver Tray Turned Chalkboard Tray

A couple of weeks ago, I came across a silver tray at the thrift store.
It wasn't in the best condition and wasn't the fanciest of trays,
so I thought that I would do something different with it.

I decided to make it a chalkboard tray.

This is what it looked like originally.

I used this metal primer that I found this at Michaels

and gave it a solid coat.
Per the bottle instructions, I gave it 24 hours to dry.

Then I used this this Multi-Surface Chalkboard paint in the color oxblood.

I gave it three separate coats allowing more than an hour drying time between each coat.

I think it turned out pretty cute!

Come back on Monday and see what else I plan to do with this tray. . .
Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

Arise, shine; for your light has come!
