Last month, I happened across a find that I've been wanting for awhile. . .

old school lockers.

I put them in my son's room to replace his old, broken dresser.

They look pretty cool in there because he has a sports themed room.

My hubby cut shelves to fit.

I helped my son to organize his clothes.

I love how they turned out!
So does my son- thank goodness:)

Every Thursday I enjoy showing you my secondhand treasures

most of which come by way of thrift stores.

Sometimes I get lucky curbside finds,

and sometimes I get even luckier and am given vintage gems.

Today's feature is one such gem.

Vintage Wooden Shoe Form Christmas Door Hanging

Recently I picked up an old pair of wooden shoe forms at a rummage sale.
I thought I could add a little something to them and use them as Christmas décor.

First I tied the two forms together with some twine.

Then I made a small bouquet of Christmas flowers and greenery and tied it to the form.

I finished it off with a big red bow.

Isn't that cute?

The shoe forms were $5 and the flowers came from the dollar store.

I just love it when a plan comes together. . . inexpensively!

Vintage Children's Book Page Letters

I have quite a collection of vintage books.
Some of my favorites are vintage children's books.
I just love the graphics in them.

A friend of mine, who also loves vintage things, has a baby boy due in December.
I thought I'd make her a vintage themed gift. . .

so I used some children's book pages to cover paper mache letters.

The letters are about 8" tall and are about 1" thick.

I covered the fronts, backs, and along the sides.

As I decided which graphic to use, I set each letter on the page to make sure the pictures 

would align with the shape of the letter.

Then I attached them by painting Mod Podge onto the letter and setting the page onto the glue.

I rubbed all along the surface- especially the edges- to make sure the paper adhered.

I let them dry for about 30 minutes.

Then I rubbed a small piece of sandpaper along all the edges to get rid of the excess paper.

I just love those old book pages!

Have You Heard of the Junk Hippy Roadshow?

Have you heard of or been to the Junk Hippy Roadshow?
It's a show full of booths featuring vintage items, antiques, and lovely junk.
There are booths with shabby chic furniture, cute clothes, and unique jewelry.
It's right up my alley.
 

I believe they have shows in Texas and Oklahoma.

Fortunately, the town I live in is one of their stops

and I got to go to the show this past Saturday.

It was amazing.

There was so much to see.

I felt most of the prices were fair.

I just loved walking around and looking not just at what was being sold,
but also how the items were displayed.

It was only $5 to get in.

 

If you get a chance to go to one of these shows, do it.

You won't be disappointed.
