Vintage Postcard Garland DIY

I just love paper paraphernalia- especially if it's vintage.
In my secondhand shopping, I've come across several good postcard finds.
I hate to just let these beauties sit in a stack.
So I decided to display them. . .

as a garland.

I chose ten postcards to display.

Half have the pictures showing and half have the message showing.

Then I attached them to twine using mini clothespins and mini bull clips.

So pretty and vintage, don't you think?

Thrifty Thursday #169

Recently, I was doing some secondhand shopping with a friend.
You just gotta love friends who will go thrifting with you!
We walked through some booths at an indoor flea market.
I found a few things. . .

If I'm not mistaken, I think these are light insulators.

Whatever they are, they're certainly unique.

I paid $1 apiece for them.

Any ideas about what I can do with them?

I am a nut for tags. Don't ask me why, but I just love unique tags.

I got a big bag of these for $3.

I'll use them in a papercrafting project.

Love them!

I am also a nut for vintage postcards.

We happened by a booth that had all postcards marked down to half off!

I only paid fifty cents apiece for them.

Aren't they so lovely?

Yes, I bought them with a specific project in mind. :)

Check out this ballister- it's nice and sturdy.
I got it for $5.
I think it would make an interesting necklace stand. . .

We also shared some fried pickles while we shopped, so between that and the shopping,
 it was a great day!

Thrifty Thursday #107

Last week I showed you some of my awesome score from an estate sale at an old
photography business, and today I'm going to show you the rest of my loot.
Brace yourselves, my friends, because it's some good stuff! :)

I am a sucker for old photos. I went through a basket of pics and chose these two.

I always think it's sad when families don't treasure these. (Although I'm thinking these were probably extra prints due to the fact that this was a photography business.)

I paid a dollar for these.

This beautiful sewing needle card was sitting in a box with old postcards.

The gal just let me have it.

I think it would be a lovely addition to a shadow box.

I was thrilled to find all of these vintage postcards.

I picked them up not intending to buy them all- usually cards like these are at least a dollar apiece.

I had 25.

Can you believe she only asked $3 for all of them?!?

Deal of the year!

My final purchase was this old photo album.

There's page after page of gorgeous old photos.

The gal only asked $5 for this.

Did I mention how much I love old photos? :)

I have to say that this is truly the best haul I've ever gotten at an estate sale.
I headed to the car with an armful of treasures for which I only paid $22 (including the gems I showed you last week). I was a happy camper that day. . . or should I say happy junker?

I have projects planned for the old photos and the postcards, so stay tuned!
