Place Card Holder Photo Display

Last weekend I went on my annual girls' trip with some longtime friends. We spent three days having fun and doing lots of shopping. Yesterday I showed you the secondhand treasures I found.
Today I'll show you a few new items that I bought and what I did with them . . .

Here's the finished product.

I fell in love with this photo stand.
I've been wanting one of these and was amazed when I found it on the clearance rack.
It was regularly $23.50 and I got it for 75% off which means I only paid $5.88 for it!

I dug into my vintage photo collection and slid one in.
Then I added a little color with a piece of ribbon.

I spun it around and placed this photo behind the first since this stand is two sided.

Wouldn't this be great to use as a centerpiece for a party or wedding?

I also got these three place card holders.
They were regularly $14.50 and I got them for $3.60 each.
I'm even cheap at real stores!:)

I think they look like tiny music stands.

I used one to hold a vintage postcard,
then I added a little lace along the stem.

The other two are holding vintage photos.
I used twine and a strip of fabric on these.

I thought they turned out so cute that I placed them around my living room.
See the photo peeking out behind the large spools . .

and the photo stand in amongst this arrangement?

Next time you come across some cute place card holders, think about how else you could use them whether for photo display or holding recipes in the kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

Vintage Photo Garland

You know how I love vintage stuff, right?
I also love photos- I'm an avid photographer (not necessarily a good one). I think it's so important to document life in photos.
Anyway, recently I became a proud owner of a whole lot of beautiful old photos.
I knew just what I wanted to do with them. . .

turn them into a garland!

See the photo garland at the top of this arrangement?
I thought they'd look great in front of my lace garland.

I used small clothespins and pinned them to a twisted strand of tiny pearls, lace, and twine.
Then I tied strips of muslin in between the photos.

Here's a close up view.

Aren't the photos lovely?

What do you think?
You could also use current photos to do this. As a matter of fact, it would be a cute way to show off photos for a birthday party!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

Thirfty Thursday #108

I had a long stretch where I hadn't been to an estate sale, and now I have a long stretch
where I've been to several. Yay, me.
Today I'm going to show you purchases from three different estate sales- all worth going to even though I only found a couple of items at each.

First off, isn't this bowl one of the most beautiful pieces you've ever seen?!?
It was priced $7, so I initially left it alone. Then I found out that it was the last day of the sale and everything was 25% off, so I splurged and paid $5.25 for it.
I'm so glad I did. I think it's soooooo pretty!

I spotted these vintage Valentines in a glass case- why they were in there, I don't know.
Anyway, I picked them up for $3 after the discount.

There were two packs, so I bought both of them.
I'm not for sure what I'm going to do with them, but I'm sure I'll come up with something
by next Valentine's Day:)

The next two items, I picked up when I went back on the last day to the estate sale
I talked about last week.
I liked this old camera. I got this. . .

and all these photos for $3.
Bargain!
My favorite photo is the one in the upper right corner of the three boys. Isn't it cute?

One Thursday afternoon right after my hubby got home from work, he ran me out to a nearby town to an estate sale of a collector (the ad said so).
I wasn't impressed with the prices- they were way too high.
I picked up three expanding rulers and these old Uno scorecards for $5. I used to play Uno when I was little, and I don't remember scorecards. . .

How about you guys- have you been to any good estate sales lately?

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.
