Revamped Secondhand Frames

I had two large empty frames that I got at a thrift store a few months ago.
They've been leaning up against my desk just waiting for me to do something with them.

The other day, my hubby happened to bring home some chicken wire for a project he's doing,
so I used a little bit of it to make this project.

The frames are 20"x 15".

I trimmed chicken wire to fit the back of each frame and attached it using a staple gun.
I was thinking I'd just whip through this project, but it took me longer than I thought.
Chicken wire isn't that easy to work with. I have little cuts on my hands and forearms.:)

These kinds of frames are such a fun way to display photos, vintage postcards, or anything you want!
Have you ever made one?

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forever more!

Thrifty Thursday #207

I made my weekly thrift store run and got a few good things. . .

Like these two large wooden frames for $1 each.
I'm anxious to distress them and possibly add some Hemp Oil to them.
I also think they're begging for some chicken wire!

It was love at first sight with this old Reading textbook.

Here's one of the interior pages.
I got this book for a quarter!

I also got this book for a quarter.
It's in great shape, so I'll donate it to the nursery at church.

My final find was two sets of three wooden hangers.
They were fifty cents per set.
I'm going to be browsing Pinterest looking for some cool projects to use these on.

That's it for this week.
Swing by next Thursday to see what else I dig up. :)

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

Thrifty Thursday #152

Believe it or not, but I braved cold and rainy weather to make it into the thrift store this week.
It was the only time I could carve out of my schedule, so I pulled on my hood and dodged puddles.
I could've just skipped, but then I would've missed out on. . .

these awesome glass bottles for a quarter each.
I think they were wine bottles, but somebody did a top notch job of removing all the labels.
They will probably become candle holders.

I also found these lovely 13"x 15" wooden frames.
I love how wide the wood is.
These are just screaming for some turquoise colored stain!
They were $.75 each.

My last purchase was a few books.
Five to be exact.
Guess how much I paid for all of them?
Twenty-five cents!
The store had a special going on. . . buy one book, get five free!
(Where's the sixth book, you ask? Well, for some reason, my mind locked onto the number five, so that's what I went to the check-out with. Once I figured it out, I wasn't about to go back to find another one.)
Three are just-for-fun reading, one is for my son to read,
and the other is an old book called, "Sunday School Officers."
Wouldn't that last one make a cute journal?

It was a short and sweet (and wet) trip this week!
Stop back next Thursday to see what I dig up then!

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

His praise endures forever.

Thrifty Thursday #74

This Thrifty Thursday is short and sweet. . . only a few items, as I only stopped at one store.

I got this beautiful old bowl for $1. I've got a small collection of these now.
My hubby says they are too small to be cereal bowls, though.

This small wire basket was only a quarter.
I have one like it on my coffee table that has croquet balls in it. This one will have a similar fate.

I couldn't pass up this brand new pair of Wrangler shorts. They are my son's size and his favorite color- camouflage! I got them for $5. You can't find denim shorts that cheap at Walmart!

I also stopped by one yard sale in my neighborhood. I found these four round frames for fifty cents- for all of them!
I think they'd look cute with cork board in the center. . .

I hope you all find something good while yard sale-ing this weekend! Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

and let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns."
