Vintage Pattern Projects

My neighbor recently gave me a whole slew of vintage patterns (see here and here).
With so many, I had to do something with them.
Here are a few projects I came up with. . .

I covered a vase.

I used two different patterns- one for the front and one for the back.
I just used the fronts of the patterns.

Then I used a piece of the pattern paper to fill the inside of the vase.
I just love how this turned out!

I used one to cover a notebook.
I placed the front of the pattern on the front of the notebook
and the back of the pattern on the back of the notebook.

For the notebook itself, I used half a file folder and cut it in half again.
The pages are just pieces of graph paper cut to size.
I bound it with my Bind-it-All tool.

The third project I made is a vintage sewing garland.

I cut the fronts off of six patterns.
Because the paper was fragile, I backed them with white cardstock and sewed around the edges.

Then I added some paper doilies and vintage sewing notions in between the patterns.
I attached them all to twine with mini clothespins.

Stay tuned because I have some more vintage pattern projects up my sleeve!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

Thrifty Thursday #199

Today's treasures are brought to you by my neighbor lady. :)
She's been cleaning out her garage and had some goodies for me.

She gave me this box full of vintage patterns.
I've been coming up with ideas of what I can do with them. . . stay tuned for that!

Yes, she just recently gave me two smaller boxes of patterns,
so I now have a plethora of them!

She also gave me these two old piano books.
I love vintage sheet music.
I've already started using one in a crafting project.

Not too bad for a free haul, huh?

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

Thrifty Thursday #181

Last Saturday morning I only had a few minutes to spare, but my hubby and I quickly stopped into a church yard sale. I had high hopes for it, but it was mostly clothes.
I managed to find a few things.

The most interesting part of the morning happened on our way to the sale. I pulled out of a parking lot in front of a truck pulling a trailer. I felt I had enough time. I guess the driver didn't see me.
Before I knew it, I heard incredibly loud screeching of tires. In my rear view mirror, I could see the truck was right on my tail.  I hit the gas and sped out of the truck's way just in the nick of time.
I think God had his hand in between our two vehicles!
Boy, was my heart racing after that!

I got this plate for my friend who is wanting to hang plates on one of her living room walls.
It's 7" across and has such a pretty pattern.
I paid a dime for it, but I would've gladly paid the original price of fifty cents:)

Patterns were marked fifty cents each, so I picked up four.

I was delightfully surprised when I went to pay and was only charged ten cents apiece for them.
It wasn't even 11 a.m. and they were already marking down their prices.

All together I only spent fifty cents.
Time well spent.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.
