Reese's Pieces Blondies
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
2 1/8 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup Reese's Pieces
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Combine butter and brown sugar. Add vanilla. Mix in eggs and peanut butter. Combine dry ingredients. Add to wet mixture. Fold in Reese's Pieces and chocolate chips.
Spread in greased 13"x 9" pan. Bake about 30 minutes until golden brown.

My hubby's favorite candy is Reese's Pieces, so when I found this recipe, I knew I had to make it. He loved it. He and my boys ate this up in a couple of days.

Mini Album Monday #46- Easy Month by Month Album DIY

A project that's near and dear to my heart is keeping a month by month scrapbook.

Every January, I prepare an album that has a layout for each month of the year.
That way I can print the photos I take for the month and put them right into this
already prepared book.

Here's my 2015 album.
The cover is an old book cover.

Each layout has a journaling card that says what month it is,

a piece of double sided pattern paper with lots of room for photos,

and an envelope to hold little mementos that I pick up throughout the month.

Here is February's layout.

The beauty of binding it with office rings is that I can always add to it.
If I take lots of photos one month, then I can add another piece of pattern paper or cardstock to hold the pictures.

If I get a large memento that won't fit into my envelope, I can just punch holes
and add it to the book.

Here is the March layout.
See how they're all similar?

That's what allows me to put it together quickly.

After photos are added, each layout will be very unique.

If you would like to make an album like this, here's how.
It's really not hard at all.

Get a large book that you won't feel bad about cutting up.
My book measures 8"x 11 1/4".
I found it at the thrift store.
I went with one that has a simple cover- you could use a cover with an image on it.
An old children's book would be great.

Use a ruler and a box cutter and cut off the front and back covers.

You should end up with something like this.

You need 12 pieces of double sided pattern paper.
I used this coordinating line from Maggie Holmes.

Trim each piece of pattern paper to fit in your book.
It's always good to go about 1/4" smaller than the size of the covers.
I trimmed my pages to 7 3/4"x 11.

You'll need 6 envelopes that measure 9"x 12".
You could use the large manilla envelopes; I happened to have these white ones on hand,
so that's what I used.

Cut each envelope in half. This way you'll have one for each month.
Depending on what type of envelope you use, your opening may be at the top.
Either top opening or side opening will work. You just want to have a place to put extra stuff.

I used a circle punch to cut a notch out of my openings.
I also used my scraps and placed a strip of pattern paper near the bottom of each envelope.

Finally, you'll need two office rings (they should measure 1 1/2" or 2").
I bought a set of Snap cards that have two cards for each month.
If you'd rather, you can use index cards and stamp the month onto each one.

Now you have your cover, your pages, your envelopes, your month cards, and your office rings.
Punch holes in all the pages and bind with the office rings.
One thing I always do when I bind an album with rings is place hole reinforcers on the holes
on the backs of each page.

Add all your pages, then you'll be ready to add photos at the end of every month!

I find that keeping an album like this is such a fun way to document our year.
It also lessens the need I feel to scrapbook all the photos I take.

You can go here and here to see past month by month albums that I've made.

Save Your Memories In A Jar

Today I'd like to revisit a project that I've done before
but I think it's so fantastic that I have to show you again.

It's a Memory Jar.
I believe it's the quickest way that you can store memories for the year.
You don't have to be crafty to do this.

Just get a jar.

Place a recent family photo in it.

Add the year to the front or the top of the jar.
I used rub-ons to place my numbers.

Then place things in it throughout the year.

This is our jar from last year.

It has lots of different items like:
movie stubs
souvenir pennies
armbands from event entrance
concert tickets
baseball tickets
fortune card
business cards- from where we ate for our anniversary and from my nail salon

Before dropping each item in my jar, I wrote a quick note on the back explaining a little about the event the item came from.

Here's my collection of Memory Jars.
This will be my fifth year to make such a treasure.

What do you think? Wouldn't it be fun to go through one of these at the end of the year?
You could make it part of your Christmas or New Year's celebration.

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Thrifty Thursday #149

Today's Thrifty Thursday has only one find,
but what a doozy that find is!
It's a thrifter's dream. . .

a set of three vintage crocks!
Can you believe it?
I got all three for $19.
Aren't they just beautiful?!?

The craziest part is that I went to this particular thrift store looking for vintage bowls.
I had been there a couple of days before and passed up two retro Pyrex mixing bowls and
was kicking myself for not picking them up.
Who would've thought that when I got there, I'd find something even better?!?

This is definitely one of those rare scores.

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

Let all that you do be done with love.

Layout of the Week #101

Welcome to the first Layout of the Week of 2015!
How about if you start a habit of stopping by here every other Wednesday to complete a layout?!?
Sounds like a good resolution to me. . . :)
All my layout tutorials can be made in less than an hour using supplies you have on hand.

Here's the layout we'll be creating today.
Yours will look slightly different as you'll be using products that you have.

 To make it, you'll need:
1 piece of 12"x 12" cardstock
1 piece of pattern paper measuring 3 1/2"x 12"
one piece of pattern paper measuring 11"x 8 1/2"
title card or letter stickers for your title
journaling card (a note card will work)
2 embellishments
paper trimmer
adhesive
4 photos

First, adhere the 11"x 8 1/2" piece of paper about 1" from the left side of the cardstock.

Now place the 3"x 12" piece of pattern paper along the right edge of the cardstock.
This should slightly overlap the first piece of pattern paper.

Place your photos in two rows like this.
I used two vertical photos on the top row and two horizontal photos on the bottom row.
I trimmed a little off the edges of all my pictures.

Using your title card or letter stickers, place your title below the bottom right photo.

Write on your journaling card and place it slightly overlapping your top left photo.

The embellishments that I decided to use were 2 butterflies printed on a small card.
I cut around the edges so that I could use them in two different places.

Place an embellishment at the top of your journaling card
and to the left of your title.

That's it!
Pretty simple and simply pretty.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
I'm considering making this feature as a Youtube video.
Which would you all prefer- a video or step by step photos?

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

Since you were precious in My sight,
you have been honored, and I have loved you

Recipe of the Week #152-Hearty Lasagna Soup

Hearty Lasagna Soup
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 onion, diced
4 small garlic cloves, minced
1 green pepper, diced
1/2 tsp oregano, chopped
1 tsp parsley, chopped
1 1/2 tsp basil, chopped
1 lb ground beef
32 oz beef broth
1/2 cup ricotta
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
2 cups broken lasagna noodles
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Place olive oil in large pot and heat just until it starts to shimmer. Add garlic, stir, cook for a few seconds, then add the onion. Cook about 3-5 minutes until the onion becomes translucent. Add green pepper and herbs. Stir and let cook for 1 minute.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add beef broth and ricotta. Stir until the ricotta melts. Add the brown sugar, tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes. In the last 15 minutes, add the broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender. Serve with crunchy garlic bread.

Note: You can substitute the fresh herbs with half the amount of dried herbs.

This soup was fantastic! It's a great spin on traditional lasagna.

Thanks so much for stopping by and God bless.

Bracelet with a Vintage Groove

With the new lines of jewelry out there now, anyone can make their own pieces.
Quite simply and quickly.
It took me about five minutes to put this bracelet together.
Seriously.

Isn't it pretty--- and vintage looking?

I used two different pieces from the Vintage Groove line at Hobby Lobby
and one toggle clasp.

I removed two of the turquoise beads from the long strand
otherwise my bracelet would've been too long.

Then, using the jump rings that were already attached to the beads,
I attached the strand of beads to either side of the pendant.

Finally, I placed a toggle clasp in between the second and third beads using the jump rings that were already attached to the beads.
I don't think it could get any easier than that!

I just love my new bracelet.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth;
Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.
